The Lawrence Debate Union will be featured in an upcoming issue of the VERMONT QUARTERLY magazine. Lynda Majarian (lynda.majarian@uvm.edu) is writing the story and is anxious to hear from alumni, students, staff, parents, and others. Feel free to email her with your comments, memories, etc. The story will be set around the 100th year of Vermont Debate, but focus more on what is happening now and how the LDU is changing and has changed lives.

DEPARTURE & TRANSPORTATION BE ON TIME! 4:15 PM Friday is load up, 4:30 PM is departure. The later we leave the later we arrive.
Packing: Evidence (separate stuff to work on in bus, no room at hotel to work), supplies, luggage (take it easy, no need to dress up unless you want to), towels. 1/3 = sleeping bag & pillow for Econolodge rooms (4 becomes 6).
Bus: 57 passenger, lavatory, music, videos, sit next to partner, get some work done.
SATURDAY MORNING LEAVE FROM HOTEL AT 7 AM! Be on time or take a taxi to the tournament.
SUNDAY MORNING LEAVE FROM HOTEL AT 7:30 AM! You must move out of the hotel and pack into the van.
PLAN TO RETURN VERY LATE SUNDAY NIGHT!
FOOD You will get $20 as a food money bonus. Gift of Edwin W. Lawrence. Friday night we will stop for fast food on the NY Thruway. Please be prompt! Tournament will provide beverages, bagels, muffins for breakfast. Lunch provided on Saturday - pizza. Dinner Saturday night is still being planned. Bring food if you want, but do not trash the bus.
TOURNAMENT PROCEDURES: You will be assigned a coach pair. When pairings come out find that coach, who will be nearby. Have pen and paper ready to receive coaching. 8-3-5-8 are the times. Schedule attached. Always see your coach before rounds. It may mean you have to hurry. Be on time to your debates, but still see a coach. Fill out round report forms. Never give up. Keep learning. Fill your speech times. Represent us. Stay positive. Winning and losing is no big deal. It is all about learning. Learn and the wins will come!
