Almost all the research assignments
are in, updates are being done, intelligence reports on what people are
saying are being evaluated, teams are organizing their files, and practice
debates are being held.
Friday the LDU leaves for Buffalo to begin the 2005-2006 season.
Varsity teams: Landsman-Roos & Hitchcock, Clark & Whiting, Keller & Harlow.
JV teams: Kichura & Anderson, Wilson & Kimerer, Benjamin & Pignatelli.
Novice teams: Brown & Thibault, Hoke & Lalament, Corcoran & Chapman,
Lavallee, Jokajtys.
Coaches & Judges: Snider, J. Morgan Parmett, Lockwood, Sanders, Kern,
Nelson.
Van #1 leaves at 11 AM: Snider, Lockwood, Kern, the rest TBA.
Van #2 leaves at 12:30 PM: Kichura, Whiting, Clark, Benjamin, Pignatelli,
Wilson,
Anderson, Kimerer, the rest TBA.
Van #3 leaves at 1:30 PM: Hitchcock, Landsman-Roos, Keller, Harlow, the
rest TBA.
TBAs include: Sanders, Nelson.
Justin will handle disclosure by Thursday night.
Auditions
to be videoed sometime this week if we can schedule it. Those interested
include Harlow, Jokajtys, Kichura, Fletcher, Benjamin, Nelson. Email will
determine times.
Each student should give a short 3-4 minute speech about some issue they care a lot about, simulating a debate if possible. The HC is looking for articulate speakers who are comfortable in front of a camera. If UVM is selected the debaters wqill be flown to NYC for a taping of a debate against another school that will be shown on the HC's national feed. There will also be a separate debate competition with a $5000 prize for the school who stages the best debate.
Teams began signing
up for travel at the squad meeting this week.
WEST POINT: Nelson-McMahan, Clark-Whiting, Harlow-Keller, Benjamin-Pignatelli,
Kimerer-Wilson, Landsman-Roos-Hitchcock, Brannan-Kaelber, Anderson-Kichura,
and more.
UVM SCRIMMAGE: The LDU will also host a intra-squad tournament on campus.
All will be debating and judging.
TEXAS IN JANUARY: Landsman-Roos-Hitchcock, Keller-Harlow, Clark-Whiting, Wilson-Kimmerer,
and more can apply. Probably four teams will go.

AARON FISHBONE
Aaron has returned from the Middle East and Estonia and is now working part
time while remaining able to travel and keep his options open. He is
continuing to work with IDEA and was in Burlington to help Anthony and
Amanda Pagan celebrate their marriage now that they are back in the states
after Anthony was based in Korea.
Aaron will be working on a major alumni LDU fund drive this year.

THE UN FOUNDATION HAS GIVEN TWO NEW $500 GRANTS TO THE LDU FOR EVENTS IN OCTOBER, INCLUDING AN ALL-CAMPUS SPEAK OUT AND A STREAMING VIDEO INTERNET DEBATE.
BRADY WILL START PLANNING THE OCTOBER 6 SPEAK OUT.
ADDITIONAL RESEARCH ASSIGNMENTS WERE GIVEN, DUE THURSDAY AT 5 PM.
ALL TEAMS DECIDED TO DISCLOSE AT BUFFALO -- JUSTIN WILL COORDINATE.
