Shawn Wilkerson & Aaron Fishbone with some of their trophies
The team of Aaron Fishbone and Shawn Wilkerson reached the elimination rounds at the Heart of America tournament held at the University of Kansas. Long seen as one of the most difficult tournaments held in America and a warm-up for nationals, the tournament reflected their long and difficult struggle to rise into the upper ranks of American varsity policy debate teams. Aaron and Shawn have debated steadily all year and with a tremendous work ethic, never despairing. The two are juniors and did not debate in high school, and in reaching the elimination rounds in Kansas they sent several teams with twice as much debate experience and on debate scholarships to the showers through their victories. They lost their elimination round to Northwestern University in what was said to be an excellent debate. There are always more goals to aim for.
