GOOD SHOWINGS AT SOUTHERN ILLINOIS & SYRACUSE
This last weekend University of Vermont debaters were competing at a major national tournament at Southern Illinois University and a small regional tournament at Syracuse University. At Southern Illinois two varsity teams competed. Rae Schwartz and Justin Parmett were 4-2 in prelims, and then lost their elimination round. Sarah Snider and Helen Morgan were 3-3 and missed reaching the elimination rounds by a speaker few points. At Syracuse Pete Winfield and Aaron Fishbone were 5-1 in novice prelims before losing in their first eliminatoin round. Greta Lockwood and novice Megan Cavanaugh were 2-4 in JV, while the Trinity College team of Mariellen Jewers and Jocelyn McCann also went 2-4 in novice. Pete was the 9th best speaker and Aaron was the 5th best novice speaker.
