UVM WINS NATIONAL PUBLIC DEBATE CHAMPIONSHIP
The LDU was named the #1 school in America for bringing debate to a wider public audience. Based on nominations and a committee consideration of a portfolio of public debate activities, UVM finished ahead of the pack. Particularly important were activities such as the weekly television show FLASHPOINT, international activities, and Internet services to promote debate.

YOUNG DEBATERS PERFORM WELL
The rest of the Nationals posse debated hard and performed well. Novices Vilasa Campbell and Jillian Marty finished 3-5. Jennifer Knops and novice Abigail Trebilcock were 2-6.

LDU COACH RECEIVES LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Alfred C. Snider received a "Lifetime Achievement" Award from the Cross Examination Debate Association at the Nationals awards assembly. He was in Denver at the time preparing to webcast the finals of the National Parliamentary Debate Association championship tournament.
