Prospective Graduate Students:

This is the last year for one of our two graduate assistants for debate
at Northern Illinois University.  I'm looking for someone interested in
studying in our department for an MA in Communication (Communication
Theory, Rhetorical Studies, or Media Studies (production and/or cultural
studies), who would like to apply for a graduate assistantship starting
the Fall, 2000 term.  NIU pays about $800 a month, and the assistantship
involves 1/2 time teaching one course and the other 1/2 coaching our
CEDA/NDT debate team.

If you want information and application materials, write me back and I
will get them out to you A.S.A.P.  Even if you are not chosen as a
debate assistant, their are plenty of other assistantship opportunities
if your interest is communication.

NIU is one hour from downtown Chicago, in lovely DeKalb (As I am sure
you all know, the place where barbed wire was invented).  At NIU we
enjoy a rich history of competitive debate and a first-rate graduate
faculty.  We do not offer a Ph.D., but have an impressive record of
placing our graduates in doctoral programs across the country.
